Today, we are announcing a partnership with Rapha, the world's leader in cycling apparel. Rapha will use Commerce Layer's API and suite of tools to scale their international ecommerce business, sell across multiple channels, and expand into new businesses. They continue to push their innovative brand into new directions by committing to a composable commerce technology stack that will power their content, transactions, checkout, and more. Commerce Layer will work arm-in-arm with them throughout the process to ensure success.

Rapha's purpose is to inspire the world to live life by bike. Founded by Simon Mottram in London in 2004, Rapha is the world’s first and finest cycling clothing brand. Rapha’s products have redefined comfort, performance, and style for cyclists from absolute beginners to WorldTour professionals. They apply the same standards of excellence in their products to the online experiences they use to sell them. Commerce Layer will help them adapt quickly to future business opportunities while facilitating highly personalized experiences for their customers and cycling community around the world.

Commerce Layer is in its own unique category within the composable commerce market. With a singular focus on powering the ecommerce engine for our business, Commerce Layer smartly separates commerce data from creative content.

Andy Berks, Chief Digital Officer at Rapha, had this to say: "This unlocks unlimited opportunities for Rapha to create exceptional experiences for cyclists across all of our digital storefronts and channels. Its flexible market model enables us to create localized business rules by market, as well as pursue new business models and sales channels without having to re-platform."

Rapha selected Commerce Layer over other leading commerce solutions. They are now going “fully-composable” by migrating from a monolithic, all-in-one solution to a modern composable commerce architecture powered in part by Commerce Layer. Contentful will manage content and Cloudinary will serve as their composable digital asset manager. They will integrate Commerce Layer to make all of their SKUs shoppable across all their digital channels.

At Commerce Layer, we put a lot of emphasis on developer enablement. We built our platform to be as flexible, scalable, and extensible as possible, so developers can build future-proofed ecommerce that can be iterated upon without creating hacks. This way, developers like Rapha’s in-house tech team can focus on designing new customer experiences and delivering new business value instead of focusing on maintenance. Speaking with Rapha throughout the evaluation process and understanding their ambitions, we knew we’d be great partners and we’re thrilled to see what they build.

Rapha expects to utilize multiple aspects of Commerce Layer's platform to build new and exciting digital experiences across their global business. Their website and apps will now use the most cutting edge composable commerce technologies, and they have partnered with Commerce Layer to build and execute this vision together.
